Profhilo® is an exclusive skin remodelling treatment designed for individuals with ageing skin that is lacking volume and elasticity. By stimulating the production of collagen and elastin through the slow release of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), Profhilo® significantly improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and helps to increase hydration and firmness across the face.
How does Profhilo® work?
Profhilo® has been specially formulated to contain a unique level of Hyaluronic Acid (a naturally occurring substance found in our bodies that is responsible for maintaining moisture within our skin), which helps to encourage the production of collagen and elastin across the skin. Due to the way Profhilo® has been made, it acts as a hydrator rather than a filler, and is therefore fantastic for those with tired, dull and ageing skin as it provides overall more plump and luminous skin.
The substance is injected just below the skin’s surface in just 2 sessions over a period of 4 weeks, and disperses quickly across the skin to instantly boost hydration, consequently smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in improved skin texture.
Why chose Profhilo®?
We start losing a significant amount of collagen, elastin and Hyaluronic Acid after we reach 30, which means we start to see the signs of ageing in the form of fine lines, wrinkles and slightly lack-lustre skin. At this age, we should start to consider preserving ourselves, therefore Profhilo® is advised for individuals from around the age of 30 upwards, who wish to target ageing skin.
Profhilo® is also an excellent choice for you if you don’t want to add volume to specific areas (if this is the case, it is more likely that dermal fillers would be the right treatment for you), as it instead provides volume and hydration across the skin, giving an overall rejuvenated appearance.
There is no age upper limit either. In fact, in older patients, we have often seen more dramatic results. However, if you’re over 60 your treatment does need to be managed carefully – for example, if there are deep folds present or the skin has lost elasticity, then combination treatments that include Profhilo® may be more suitable. This is why consultation prior to treatment is so important!
If you’re looking for very subtle results, this treatment delivers. However, if you’re looking for a lifting of the face, neck or any other area, then a combination approach with fillers, threads or surgery could be recommended.
Real People, Real Results
How much does Profhilo® cost?
Where can Profhilo® be used?
Profhilo® is most commonly used for facial areas, but can also effectively be used for rejuvenating the neck, decollete, arms, knees and hands. Increasingly, the neck is becoming a popular area to have Profhilo®, due to its ability to help reduce crepe-like skin and sagginess, and encourage a firmer appearance.
What is the difference between Profhilo® and Dermal Fillers?
Due to the way that Profhilo® is formulated, it is not a volumising treatment in the same way that dermal fillers are, and is not used to enhance specific areas of the face (e.g. lips, cheeks, chin). Profhilo® is primarily a hydrating treatment, and the Hyaluronic Acid it contains is dispersed evenly throughout the face, giving your skin a more plump and firm look overall.
Will Profhilo® work for my skin type?
We start losing a significant amount of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid after we reach 30, and it is at this age that we start to consider preventative treatments.
This is the time when many people would consider their first anti-wrinkle injections as the first lines start to appear. If you feel your facial tissue quality has dropped significantly, and that you may look older for your age, but are not ready for dermal fillers yet, Profhilo® may be the best treatment for you.
- Profhilo® is not a filler – It is a new Hyaluronic Acid gel, one of the latest innovations to treat the skin laxity by skin bio-remodelling
- It actually compliments all other aesthetic or cosmetic procedures by significantly improving the tissue quality
- It has one of the highest concentration of HA on the market
- Awarded the Aesthetics Award for Product Innovation of the Year
Profhilo® diffuses within the tissue after injection and over s period of 4 weeks it stimulates 4 different types of collagen and elastin. It doesn’t need to be massaged and leaves no nodules. Due to its ability to spread, only 5 injection points on each side of the face are needed, which means many of our patients find this treatment more comfortable than others.
How long does Profhilo® last?
The results from Profhilo® treatments will most often last for up to six months, but results can differ from person to person.
What results can I expect from Profhilo®?
After just a single course of Profhilo®, which involves 2 injectable treatments 4 weeks apart, you can expect to see an intense hydration. It makes the skin glow and fine lines can disappear. You’ll notice smoother, tighter skin. Even for those with very wrinkled skin, an improvement in the texture is undeniable. The treatment can be repeated after six months in cases where more repair is desired.

How many treatments will I need?
To achieve the best long-lasting results, 2 treatments are recommended with a 4 week interval. Some people may see the results within first week, but the best outcomes of the treatment will be visible 4 weeks after the second treatment.
Pre-treatment advice for Profhilo®
Please don’t drink any alcohol during the 24 hours before your treatment. We also advise that you avoid using aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs a couple of days before your treatment (unless they are taken for a chronic medical condition). Avoiding these medications will reduce your risk of bruising at the point of injection. Ask your medical practitioner if you have any concerns.
You can have Profhilo® treatment and continue with your day to day activities. However, we do advise you avoid wearing make-up, except for Youngblood mineral make up, which we can apply in clinic after your treatment.
We also recommend that you do not go to the gym, sauna, steam-room or go swimming on the same day as treatment. You should also avoid touching the injection site.
Q: Is it expected to have lumps where the Profhilo® has been injected, and how long will they be there for?
A: Following on from Profhilo® there is the chance that localised lumps can form where each of the injection sites have been. These lumps will subside usually 4-6 hours after the treatment but they can last up to 24 hours. Not every client gets these swellings and if you have had treatment and are concerned please do give us a call.
Q: Will I need to rest after treatments?
A: The rest time after this treatment is minimal. When injected using the five-point technique on each side of the face, each insertion is immediately noticeable. However, they start diffusing very quickly and they disappear completely by next day.
After the treatment, it is recommended to avoid physical strain and sports for 24 hours. Please also avoid having further cosmetic procedures for 48 hours. It is not recommended to go to a sauna or have a steamy bath for the first few days either. It’s best to stay out of the sun if any bruising or prolonged swelling occurs.
Q: How quickly will I notice results?
A: You can expect increased firmness, elasticity and an overall improved quality in your skin for up to six months.
Q: Will people be able to tell I’ve had “work done”?
A: Usually, people won’t be able to tell you’ve had a treatment, but this depends on the skin condition being treated and the desired outcome. Profhilo® can significantly improve skin laxity by increasing the tissue density some patients have seen some lifting, which can be noticeable. Most patients say they were complemented on how fresh they looked, but hardly ever asked what they had done.
Q: Will there be any side effects?
A: Hyaluronic Acid is very well tolerated by the skin. The only reported side effects are bruising and mild swelling at the injection sites. These generally disappear in a short period of time and are associated with the needle, not the product.
Q: Is the treatment safe?
A: Profhilo® was launched in February 2015 in Italy. It’s been used worldwide ever since. Over 150,000 patients have been treated so far with no adverse reactions reported. From a safety perspective, Profhilo® is highly biocompatible because it is made from ultrapure, natural Hyaluronic Acid and is stabilised without the addition of chemical cross-linking agents. This reduces the risk of adverse reactions. The product has also won numerous awards.
Q: How will I know if the side effects are normal, or something serious has happened?
A: After your treatment, the common effects are mild redness, slight swelling and possible bruising. The treatment area may feel tender to touch and all of these effects are normal, will subside in a few days, but may last up to a week. Each day everything should improve slightly and the area should look more normal and feel better.
It is very uncommon to have any serious side effects, however if you do experience any of the following, please call the clinic immediately, or if after hours, seek help from a GP or A&E:
- swelling that is getting worse as time passes
- increase in pain and getting more severe with time
- skin feeling hot, redness increasing and becoming worse in time
- skin near the treatment area or along the side of the nose looking pale/white or greyish in colour on the day or day after the treatment, and pain increasing in this area
- generally feeling unwell in the days following your treatment
Q: What if I don’t like the results or it looks too unnatural?
A: Our Medical Injectors are experienced with all aspects of HA Dermal Fillers and the type of results that can be achieved. Dermal filler treatment is not ‘one size fits all’, and the injector will discuss the best ‘look’ for you in your bespoke, detailed consultation. We can assure you that your treatment will be delivered safely, and in accordance with your wishes based on a thorough consultation. Dermal Fillers are a popular treatment because most people are really happy with the results. Your Medical Injector will endeavour to completely understand your expectations, however we cannot guarantee how much you will love the result!
Q: Is it safe to have any treatment if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
A: We do not recommend that you have any injectable treatments if you suspect or can confirm that you are pregnant. We also recommend that you have completely finished breast feeding before returning for your aesthetic treatments.
Q: What can I do to ensure I get the best results from my injectable treatments?
A: Here are a few tips to optimise the outcome of your treatment:
- Avoid having any alcohol the day before your treatment. This will help to minimize the chance of bruising.
- In the week before your treatment, try to avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen or any other type of anti-inflammatory medication as this will also increase your risk of a bruise occurring.
- For Botox – please do not plan to have any other facial treatments (peels, facials, waxing, threading, semi-permanent makeup) for a week following your treatment. It is ok to have these treatments at any time before your Botox visit.
- For Dermal Fillers – please do not plan to have any other skin treatments (peels, facials, microdermabrasion, micro needling) for 1 week prior and 2 weeks after your dermal filler treatment.
- If you have been unwell with a cold virus, cold sore (herpes) or any other skin rash or condition, please phone the clinic to check if you should still attend your appointment. Your general medical health is important, and we are happy to reschedule your aesthetic treatment if necessary.
- After your treatment, please closely follow the aftercare advice given to you by your Medical Injector, and please do not apply anything else to the treatment area, unless previously discussed.
