Advanced microneedling technology has revolutionised skin rejuvenation treatments and made it possible for all skin types and tones to achieve a renewed, younger complexion almost instantly! Microneedling can work wonders to brighten the skin and smooth wrinkles, and to achieve the best results, we use original Dermaroller® devices which are the best in the industry. This treatment is also effective in treating damaged skin tissue – like acne scars, burns and stretch marks – and can be used as a correcting treatment to fade uneven pigmentation and stubborn blemishes.
What is microneedling?
Microneedling revitalises your appearance by promoting natural skin repair through the stimulation of collagen. Collagen plays a fundamental part in keeping the skin firm, but is also produced during the wound healing process. In a microneedling treatment, you can expect your expert clinician to gently roll a Dermaroller®, or eDermaStamp®, across your skin to activate this response and accelerate collagen production. Both of our Dermaroller® devices are made of stainless steel and are fitted with tiny, ultra-fine needles to create atraumatic micro-wounds to encourage the deposition of new collagen in the dermis – which essentially leaves you with newer, younger skin!

Pre-treatment advice and aftercare
Before the treatment commences, the first step is always booking the initial consultation. We create bespoke treatment plans for all our clients and each one always begins with a consultation. Our market-leading treatment plans include pre-treatment and post-treatment care – and is filled with information and skincare recommendations – so you will know about every element of your treatment and how to enhance your results at home. This is an essential part of your DestinationSkin journey, as it is an opportunity for you to outline your skin concerns, expectations and get to know your practitioner who will perform your treatment. During the consultation, your clinician will examine your skin, assess which needle length would optimise the results, identify your microneedling options and the impacts of all available treatment avenues. This will help inform you to choose the treatment you like the best – we’re just here to help!
Some key things to do pre-treatment are:
We recommend that you do not over-exfoliate your skin, expose your desired treatment areas to the sun, use fake tan and minimise use of active ingredients in your skincare regime (especially vitamin A), 1 week before your treatment. As microneedling can be a little invasive, the weeks prior to your treatment should be treated as a break for your skin, a break against anything that may irritate it or damage it, so it will be in its most natural, relaxed state for the microneedling session.
After your session, all you need to do is follow the same protocols as above and resume them after 24-48 hours. We have some amazing products that can accelerate the healing process, like Medik8’s Ultimate Recovery cream, which is like a topical arnica. Coconut oil can also be used as an emollient to lock in moisture and SPF will be recommended, and applied, by your practitioner also. Using hyaluronic acid may also be beneficial to help stimulate further collagen production.
We also recommend that you avoid any strenuous exercise, or water-based activities for 24 hours afterwards as your skin will be in a more sensitive state than usual.
Frequently Asked Questions
There are many benefits of microneedling and the first one is that after one session you’ll see visible results! This is the perfect treatment for anyone that wants to rejuvenate the skin using the body’s natural healing response – which makes it an extremely safe and organic treatment compared to a lot of other cosmetic procedures.
Microneedling is also suitable for everyone: men, women, sensitive, acne-prone skin and darker complexions! It is an amazing, versatile treatment that can improve a range of skin concerns and treat large areas of the face, hands and chest, or focus on smaller concerns – like individual scars and pigmentation.
Another benefit is that after microneedling, your skincare products will be more effective! Due to the small puncture holes in the epidermis, the ingredients will be able to penetrate deeper into the skin and make more of an impact at a dermal level.
Microneedling also works to tighten the skin which helps to restore enlarged pores to their normal size! So this is the ideal treatment for anyone looking to diminish visible facial pores – whilst getting a tighter, younger complexion.
We have three microneedling treatments available: DermaRoller®, eDermaStamp® and EDS Revitalise.
DermaRoller® and eDermaStamp® are essentially the same treatments and are named after the clinical-grade collagen induction tools that they employ. Our EDS Revitalise treatment uses a genuine eDermaStamp® device, but has the added benefit of emitting an anti-ageing serum whilst activating collagen production.
EDS Revitalise uses smaller 0.3mm needles and can be used regularly to keep the skin looking bright, plump and less wrinkled due to its minimal discomfort and downtime. It is often used to prevent early on-set ageing, boost your complexion before a big event or as a way to treat your skin for a refreshing glow.
DermaRoller® microneedling is very popular in celebrity skincare regimes and can be done at home, but compared to at-home rollers, ours are of a more sophisticated level and medical quality. Our DermaRollers® are made of the highest quality stainless steel and have a spinning cylinder roller at the top of the device. The cylinder is fitted with tiny needles, ranging from 0.3mm – 1.5mm which is tailored to suit your skin’s concern – and is able to gently sweep across the face, making thousands of unnoticeable punctures to kickstart collagen production for visibly younger skin.
The eDermaStamp®is the original device of its kind and uses cone-shaped needles to create tiny, meniscal entry holes that heal within minutes of the treatment. Poor quality rollers have knife-shaped needles that can cause trauma to the skin and increase the chance of tissue damage, so our cone-shaped technology completely minimises this chance of trauma – which also makes it a lot less painful than its competitors.
The eDermaStamp® has a rounded, flat nib fitted with multiple cone-shaped needles. The nib is encased in silicone, which glides across the skin in circular motions and ensures single-use sterility. It functions electronically to deliver consistent pressure across the desired areas and imitates the springing up and down motion of a stamp. This is microneedling innovation at its finest!

During your treatment, you can expect your practitioner to brush across your face with a numbing cream before beginning the microneedling.
They will then glide the microneedling device across your face, or just over the desired area of concern, and it will immediately begin working it’s magic to stimulate collagen production.
Once the microneedling is complete, your practitioner will then clean the treatment area, remove any residue and apply a soothing collagen mask to enhance the results and rehydrate your skin.
The microneedling itself will take around 30 – 45 minutes, which can vary depending on the size of the treatment area. You can expect after your treatment to be a little red and this is perfectly normal. The redness will keep going down over the next 24 hours until it clears completely and you’ll feel the immediate difference in your skin’s smoothness and softness.
You can then expect to see visible results one week after the treatment, where you’ll notice an improvement in overall skin tone and texture. In the next four weeks, your skin will begin producing collagen and it is during this time you’ll see the full impact, and power, of microneedling – so enjoy!
Most of our clients are surprised at how little microneedling hurts and were expecting something much more intense! Some of our clients have said the treatment feels like something rubbing against your skin.
We minimise pain using our original DermaRoller® devices which combine optimal needle counts and low pressure to ensure a smooth and relatively pain-free experience. We always aim to deliver the safest, best and least invasive results in all our treatments, this is why we only believe in using high quality, state-of-the-art equipment with clinically proven results.
DermaRoller® has designed the best microneedling tools that glide over the skin – rather than scratch or tear at it – which gives us confidence knowing pain will be minimal. We also apply a numbing cream before the treatment begins to aid the flawless administration of microneedling.
For all our microneedling treatments, we always recommend a course of 3 to see visible skin rejuvenation. These treatments should be spaced two weeks apart to keep boosting collagen production for a long term effect. However, you can get as many treatments as you like!
The collagen stimulating effects of microneedling are temporary and can usually last around 8-12 weeks before a top up treatment is necessary to maintain the results. You can usually begin to see noticeable results in the 4-6 weeks following the treatment, so some patience is required to reap the full benefits of microneedling.
