This is an introductory peel with more active ingredients for those looking to target acne congestion and clogged skin. It can also be a good treatment for graduating to a more intense peel. The Pumpkin Resurfacer is formulated to reduce and prevent acne breakouts whilst also supporting cell turnover. That makes it ideal for acne-prone skin. It contains pumpkin enzymes, Glycolic Acid (AHA), Lactic acid (AHA) and Salicylic Acid (BHA).

How does it work?
Every spot starts with a comedone. A comedone is a clogged hair follicle (pore) in the skin and can be open (blackhead) or closed by skin (whitehead). The reason this peel is so effective at treating acne is because it tackles acne at the origin. By starving the acne of its fuel, this peel removes comedones, deep-cleanses pores and provides an anti-bacterial action. The peel also increases cellular turnover, meaning you’re preventing breakouts from forming and stopping what appears in its tracks.
The key ingredients (Lactic, Glycolic and Salicylic Acids) deeply cleanse and dissolve tired skin cells whilst the pumpkin pulp strengthens collagen beneath the skin’s surface – aiding the function of the skin. Salicylic Acid penetrates the skin, spinning the debris out of the clogged pore. Acne is calmed, flare-ups are prevented and you’re put back in control of your skin.
Will it work for my skin type?
This is an introductory strength peel ideal for most skin types. It is important that your skin is in good health prior to this peel, so you might be advised to use homecare products to strengthen, hydrate and protect the skin barrier before starting your clear skin journey.
What areas can be treated?
Face, back and chest
Why should I have this treatment?
The Primary and Power Pumpkin resurfacer is specifically designed for those who suffer with acne and enlarged pores. It uses a mix of pumpkin pulp, salicylic, glycolic and lactic acid to stimulate cell renewal, instantly improving the texture for skin that has a slightly thicker appearance. It also has an antibacterial effect to treat active spots while correcting surface pigmentation to improve tone. Throughout treatment, skin will become firmer, hydrated and decongested with reduced spot breakouts.
What results can I expect?
Once the peeling process has finished, the skin will feel smoother, brighter and any present acne will have reduced, leaving your skin looking healthy, less congested and hydrated.
You’ll need to prepare your skin for this treatment using DermaQuest products. Depending on your skin type, you’ll need to prepare for between two to six weeks. It’s important that your skin is in good health prior to this peel, so you’ll be advised to use homecare products to strengthen, hydrate and protect the skin’s barrier before starting your clear skin journey.
We recommend this preparation for your treatment to ensure you experience minimal downtime. It will also help you achieve the best long-lasting results.

How many treatments will I need?
The active ingredients in peels means that you will notice results after a single treatment. For optimal results, we recommend a course of six treatments: one treatment every two weeks. However, it will depend on the type of skin concern that you’re experiencing.
Aftercare advice and a great homecare kit is essential. They hold the key to maintaining your results at home. We always recommend a hydrating serum, such as DermaQuest’s B5 Hydrating Serum, to bring back the glow and supple look to the skin. We also advise using an advanced day and night routine such as the Obagi360 System Kit. It is important to start introducing everyday sun protection to protect your skin. It should be combined with a Retinol in the evening to resurface and refine the skin. Also use SPF, DermaQuest’s BHA Cleanser and DermaQuest’s DermaClear Serum.
Q: How much downtime is there after treatments?
A: There are no long-term damaging effects to the skin from resurfacer treatments; however, you may have some redness, dryness, flaking and peeling. Your practitioner will explain the possibility of downtime with you before starting the treatment. They’ll also discuss the possibility of working up to stronger peels if you want to increase them gradually. Using the recommended preparatory products before treatment will also help minimise the dryness/peeling. They ensure the skin is ready and safe before treatment.
Q: Does this treatment hurt?
A: The sensation of skin peels will vary from person to person. This is due to skin tolerance, skin condition, the severity of a skin complaint and the strength of the peel. Most common feelings from skin peels are tingling, warmth and tightness. These all mean the active ingredients are penetrating the lower layers of the skin and are getting to work effectively in those lower layers.
Q: How is it different from other treatments?
A: As we are using a combination of acids (AHAs and BHAs), we are targeting many elements of the skin. That means we get a result at all levels.
Q: How regularly do I need to have treatment?
A: The active ingredients in skin peels mean that you will notice an instant brightening effect after a single treatment. For optimal results, we recommend a course of skin peels. Treatment intervals will depend on the strength of the peel, however your practitioner will advise you on the correct plan to ensure maximum results and get the best possible outcome for your skin.
Q: What happens during the treatment?
A: A skin peel starts with scanning the skin under a UV lamp and assessing the overall skin condition. This allows the practitioner to highlight the areas for improvement i.e. dehydration, sun damage, bacteria, oil production and congestion.
The skin is then cleansed and a solution is applied to prepare the skin for the peel’s ingredients. It just means they can penetrate the lower skin layers effectively. The skin peel for your specific concern is then applied. The final steps include aftercare products being applied, such as serums and an SPF to protect the skin from UVA and UVB rays. Skin Resurfacer treatments can take up to 30 minutes.
What our clients say
After arriving anxiously for my first peel I remember lying in anticipation for this agonising burning feeling that I had associated with a chemical peel but it never really came. It was a tingly and warm sensation for up to 5 minutes but I was talked through the whole process word for word and I felt at complete ease throughout the entire treatment. When it was over I felt deeply cleansed, instantly brighter and with my aftercare advice given and a brand new bag of products- Excited to start on my new skin journey!
