How does Profhilo® work?
Profhilo® works by injecting the purest dose of hyaluronic acid into five key points – on both sides of the face – to ensure symmetrical rejuvenation and give you a noticeable lifted and tighter complexion.
These points are usually the cheekbones, the nasal base, the tragus, chin and mandibular (lower jaw). Two treatments are needed, where the first dose of hyaluronic acid gradually activates collagen and elastin production, and the second dose elevates the final outcome – to boost hydration, collagen rejuvenation and firmness from within. Profhilo® lasts around 6 months and boosts collagen production for three months after the second treatment. As it changes the way collagen is produced in your skin, this should lastingly improve your skin’s texture and firmness where you’ll be able to see the results for possibly even longer than six months.
The difference between Profhilo® and dermal fillers are seen in the treatment procedure and final outcomes. Dermal fillers are a type of injectable face fillers that have an immediate plumping effect. They are usually used on individual areas – like the lips, cheeks and jaw – to contour and restore volume to sunken and depressed areas of the face. They are also used to prevent wrinkles from developing (like forehead wrinkles) and as a filler for jowls. Profhilo®, on the other hand, does not volumize when administered into the skin and works to rejuvenate and moisturise your entire appearance rather than alter localised areas.
Dermal fillers would be more suitable for someone looking to enhance, or improve, certain areas of their appearance. Popular examples would be: to turn thin lips into bigger lips, improve the appearance of deep wrinkles (like nose to mouth lines) or increase jaw definition.
As Profhilo® is bio-compatible, everyone is suitable! This treatment is perfect for anyone looking to re-establish a glowingly hydrated and firmer complexion, or for anyone that wants to prevent the signs of ageing from worsening.
The only issue with Profhilo® is that your age can impact the effectiveness of the treatment. As collagen and elastin levels greatly decline the older you get and lack of skin elasticity becomes more prominent, the results can be less significant for older clients with significantly lower levels of anti-ageing proteins. For over 65 year olds, we recommend a combinative approach. Profhilo® would have a greater impact when used alongside our anti-wrinkle injections or even one of our less invasive treatments, like microdermabrasion or chemical skin peels, as it has an extremely complementary nature.
