SKIN TREATMENT

Medically reviewed by Eugenia Bonelli.

Most people think of dermal fillers for plumping and volumising effects in lips or cheeks, but these kinds of fillers are also highly effective at treating wrinkles.

If you are thinking about getting rid of your wrinkles, fillers are a non-invasive and non-permanent way to soften laughter lines, deep or fine forehead lines, or lines formed around the mouth and nose, giving you subtle, natural results.

If you’re interested in how dermal fillers treat wrinkles and lines and which of these they work best for, read on.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are made from a gel-like substance called hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that your skin produces to maintain plumpness and hydration. The process entails having small amounts of the gel injected just beneath your skin, targeting problem areas.

The great thing about fillers is that they can create quite a dramatic difference in your appearance without the need for surgery, or other more invasive procedures. After having fillers, your skin should look fresher, giving you a well-rested and rejuvenated look.

As the filler is injected, it’s important to have the treatment performed in a clinical setting with experienced, well-trained professionals. At DestinationSkin, we have highly qualified doctors and nurses at every one of our clinics and always work with your safety and wellbeing at the heart of our services.

What Causes Wrinkles Anyway?

As you age, your skin begins to thin out due to the lower production of collagen and elastin proteins.

This slowdown also causes the skin to become less resistant to damage, and the subcutaneous fat that sits under your skin (giving it its plump appearance) starts to diminish. Wrinkles tend to appear on your face in places where the skin naturally folds during facial expressions, like smiling or frowning.

Wrinkles also can develop on parts of the body that receive most sun exposure, such as the face and neck, back of the hands, and arms. UV light causes the skin’s collagen and elastin fibers to break down. The connective tissue that supports the skin is made up of these fibers. The skin gets weaker and less flexible when this layer breaks down and wrinkles form as the skin begins to droop.

When you are young, your skin is more elastic and springs back into shape. As you get older, the skin loses its flexibility, and it becomes more difficult for the skin to spring back, resulting in permanent lines.

Other factors will contribute to your skin showing signs of ageing, things like smoking, using sunbeds, drinking a lot of alcohol, poor nutrition and not staying hydrated.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work On Wrinkles?

Dermal fillers are specifically designed to reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles and to revitalise your skin.

The secret is that the fillers are based on hyaluronic acid (HA), a water-loving sugar molecule that binds water. In your body, HA acts as a lubricant, helps transport nutrients and regulates water balance.

Fillers Work by boosting your skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid, which rejuvenates your skin, smoothing away lines and giving a fresh, natural result.

The HA used in our Juvederm® fillers closely resembles the hyaluronic acid your body produces itself, so it easily integrates with your own facial tissue.

Dermal fillers are a simple and non-invasive way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, smoothing the skin and returning plumpness to your face. They give a natural look and don’t affect your facial expressions in any way.

As fillers aren’t permanent, fillers allow you to control your looks subtly as your face continues to change over time. Fillers work well on all face areas, softening lines and wrinkles between the eyebrows, around the eyes, crows feet and forehead lines. They can transform smokers lines and laughter lines.

SKIN TREATMENT

Profhilo® has taken the beauty world by storm. This wonder treatment plumps and rejuvenates tired, dull and ageing skin giving you a luminous glow and completely natural looking results. Profhilo® (the first of its kind) is essentially a hyaluronic acid (HA) moisturiser, which when injected has the benefit of working from within giving you long lasting results and younger looking skin. This is the ideal treatment for those over the age of 30, as this is when we start to lose a significant amount of collagen, elastin and HA.

“One of the gold standout treatments for me is Profhilo, it’s the holy grail! In my 15 year career it’s one of the most exciting things I’ve ever seen because it really changes the skin, it’s scientifically proven, we have a high rate of client satisfaction, I love having the treatment, I love giving the treatment and I love the way clients react when they see the results.” Dr Toni Philips, Group Medical Director at DestinationSkin

‘The holy grail of skincare’

Loved by beauty bloggers and journalists, Profhilo® was dubbed the ‘holy grail of skincare’ by Imogen Edwards-Jones of getthegloss.com. “It’s better than looking well rested. The result is a dewy, healthy, slightly plumper looking glow that takes a good five years off your face”. Amber Graafland, from the Daily Mirror is also a fan. “It’s the ultimate skin pick-me-up and perfect for anyone looking for skin that looks dewy, plumper and generally younger. Martine McCutcheon is fan and it’s the treatment beauty industry insiders can’t stop talking about”. So how does it actually work? And what ingredients can really make you look five years younger? Read on to find out the anti-ageing secret behind Profhilo®.

So, how does Profhilo® work?

Unlike other injectable treatments, Profhilo® is a moisturiser. It contains 100% synthetic hyaluronic acid (HA) and the ingredients can work from deep within the skin to rehydrate and plump. This is what makes it far more effective than any topical moisturiser that contains HA. With one of the highest concentrations of HA currently available, it not only boosts and hydrates, but can dramatically reduce fine lines and remodel sagging and ageing skin. It’s relatively painless and the treatment involves two sessions a month apart. Read more here about the treatment.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the body that is responsible for maintaining moisture within our skin and many skincare products contain this active ingredient. Profhilo® has been specially formulated to contain a unique level of synthetic HA which helps to encourage the production of collagen and elastin in the skin and when injected, it stimulates the skin’s natural synthesis of collagen.

How long does Profhilo® last?

Profhilo® lasts in the skin for around 28 days. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slowly releasing hyaluronic acid. Within the first few weeks you will see intense hydration, glowing skin and fine lines can disappear! You skin will feel smoother and tighter.

What areas can be treated?

Profhilo® is most commonly used for facial areas including the top of the cheeks, nasolabial fold laughter lines, mouth and chin but can also effectively be used for rejuvenating the neck, décolletage, arms, knees and hands.

How is Profhilo® different to dermal filler?

If you are looking to add volume to specific areas, dermal filler would be the right treatment for you. Profhilo® is not a volumising treatment like dermal filler and isn’t used to enhanced specific areas of the face (e.g. lips and chin). The HA injected is dispersed evenly throughout the face giving you an all-round plumped, firmer appearance.

Profhilo® can be combined with this treatment to achieve maximum results. Talk to your practitioner in your free consultation about the best course of treatment for you.

SKIN TREATMENT

Chemical skin peels are an effective and low-cost skin treatment designed to even tone and texture, manage acne and reduce the appearance of fine lines and age spots. Here we look into what is involved in a chemical skin peel, how skin peels work and who they best work for.

What is a chemical skin peel?

Chemical skin peels are a trusted skin-resurfacing treatment where liquids are applied gently to the face to remove dead skin cells and encourage new ones to grow. Chemical peels are usually done on the face, neck and hands but some can be done on other areas of the body, such as the back.

What does a chemical skin peel do?

There are a number of different types of chemical skin peels available, which work in slightly different ways to tackle different concerns. They all cause the epidermis (the top layer of the skin) to peel off, revealing younger-looking, healthier skin below. Our friendly team of practitioners at DestinationSkin will be able to help advise on the best option for you.

How long do the results last?

The results of your skin peel will depend on the kind of peel you have, your skin type and condition and the issues you are tackling with the treatment. Many clients benefit from regular peels every few months.

Why choose a chemical skin peel?

Chemical peels are the best low maintenance answer to problem skin. Here are some of the benefits for choosing a chemical peel:

  • Your skin will look brighter and smoother from the very first treatment
  • You can effectively tackle a range of skin concerns including; acne, fine lines and wrinkles, scarring, dull and lifeless skin, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone and texture, sun damage and age spots and sagging skin
  • With lighter peels, there is no ‘down-time’ after treatment – you carry on your day as normal

Weak Jawline or Chin? Fillers to the Rescue

Injectable cosmetics known as dermal fillers can be used to shape, enhance, or help you to get a sharp jawline. They can also be utilised to rejuvenate and revitalise aged skin by restoring volume.

Our skilled team of medical specialists exclusively uses Juvéderm® products, the world’s number one brand, to obtain natural, long-lasting results.

Read on to discover more about how to get a more defined jawline through the power of fillers.

How To Get A Jawline With Chin Filler

A chin or jaw filler procedure can assist both men and women in achieving either a more masculine or more feminine jawline, by contouring and framing the face.

While you may have been born with a weak jawline you’re unhappy with, many people’s jawlines are also impacted by the ageing process in one of two ways:

  • The jawline becomes soft and lacks definition as the skin loses elasticity and begins to sag. The mouth corners also start to droop, resulting in jowls and ‘marionette lines,’ which are creases that extend into the jawline.
  • Loss of fat tissue causes two divots along the jawline, known as the pre-jowl sulcus, which emphasise the appearance of jowls even more.

Dermal fillers can help restore collagen and elastin, two elements crucial for keeping a youthful volume and restoring the skin’s capacity to bounce back when used to treat the signs of ageing around the jawline. The jawline will appear narrower and lifted as a result of this.

Jaw fillers are utilised to fill in wrinkles, provide volume where it has been lost, generate a lifting effect, and hide the appearance of jowls in certain circumstances.

Did you know you can use dermal fillers to help reshape your face? Discover our full blog on this here.

Can Both Men And Women Get Jaw Fillers?

This procedure is popular among men who believe their faces are too thin or oval and are looking for a more chiselled look. Fillers are used to contour a man’s jaw by producing angles and straight lines to enhance the patient’s bone structure.

And for women who may have lost definition due to ageing and want to restore a more youthful appearance with an upward jowl lift. Fillers are used to contour a woman’s jaw by creating more delicate, feminine curves. If you’d like to learn more about face feminisation, read our full blog on it here.

What To Expect From Chin And Jaw Fillers

Jawline fillers are injected into a number of locations along the mandible (the lower jaw bone) in a series of tiny injections. Although some people may experience slight discomfort, as with any injection or a prick to the skin, these are usually not severe. A numbing topical lotion might be used to help minimise jaw sensation if this is the case.

Dermal fillers can be used to shape, define, and enhance the lower facial features while also helping to reduce the appearance of loose skin and a double chin.

This chiselling effect can be more pronounced in men. Jawline fillers can also generate an angle that ranges from mild to dramatic for ladies, based on their desired facial shape.

How Long Does Jaw Filler Last

Dermal fillers are only temporary since they are formed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring material in your body. Hyaluronic acid, or HA, binds to water in your skin and integrates with your facial tissue to give you a natural-looking result.

Dermal fillers are not permanent since enzymes in the body break down HA over time. Fillers that are thicker and used for augmentation of the cheeks, chin, or nose can last up to two years. Most high-quality fillers should last for at least a year.

Discover our filler aftercare blog to know how to effectively look after your new dermal fillers.
How Much Does Chin Filler Cost

After a consultation with our expert consultants, you will receive the exact price of what dermal fillers will cost for you, depending on your skin type and how many sessions you’ll need. You can expect prices to begin at £299.

Key Takeaways

  • Dermal fillers are an injectable cosmetic procedure used to enhance, sculpt and define your features or restore lost volume to ageing skin.
  • Dermal fillers can be used to make the face appear smaller and more sculpted.
  • Fillers are used to contour a man’s jaw by producing angles and straight lines to enhance the patient’s bone structure,
  • Fillers are used to contour a woman’s jaw by creating more delicate, feminine curves.
  • A naturally occurring substance called hyaluronic acid (HA) is injected under the skin for a plumping or smoothing effect in a simple procedure.
  • Fillers are not permanent, and your body will break them down over time.
  • How long they last depends on the filler’s type and thickness used and your own body’s process.

Microdermabrasion VS Microneedling: What’s the Difference?

SKIN TREATMENT

Helping you understand the difference between two of our most popular treatments.

A common enquiry that we receive is what the difference between microdermabrasion and microneedling is. Whilst these treatments both work to regenerate and produce newer, healthier skin, there are clear disparities that differentiate them, which we’re here to help explain to you.

As an overview, microdermabrasion is an exfoliating treatment that uses a hand held vacuum and crystals to relieve dullness and unclog pores as well as smooth away early signs of lines or wrinkles. Whereas microneedling is a treatment that uses micro-fine needles to rejuvenate the skin (commonly where there is scarring, marks left from spots and large pores), by kick-starting collagen production which your skin needs to stay firm and regenerate scar tissue.

Below we explain more about these treatments, and outline the clear differences between the two, so that you can understand your skin treatments better!

Book your free consultation now

How does it work?

Microdermabrasion: Crystals are applied to the skin and immediately vacuumed away to gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells from the top layer of the skin. A small handheld vacuum tool is used to allow the crystals to work into the skin and stimulate collagen production, giving the skin a plumped, refreshed look.

Microneedling: There are two types of micro-needling treatments that we offer at DestinationSkin. One uses a Genuine Dermaroller, and one uses an Electronic Dermastamp.

The Genuine Dermaroller is a small handheld roller tool containing micro-fine needles. It is gently rolls over the skin to encourage it to regenerate healthier, firmer skin. The Electronic Dermastamp works in the same way except the tool used is electronically controlled.

Does the treatment hurt?

Microdermabrasion: In general Microdermabrasion is not a treatment that causes any pain. The sensation it gives can be described as a very light suction from the vacuum being rolled over the skin.

Microneedling: Sensitivity to pain varies from person to person, and in some circumstances microneedling can be reported as uncomfortable, depending on the depth of the needle. To reduce any discomfort experienced during this treatment, a numbing cream can be applied to the skin prior to beginning the treatment, and in fact many clients report that they don’t feel it at all!

What concerns does it target?

Microdermabrasion: Dull/tired skin, blackheads, clogged pores, fine lines.

Microneedling: Acne scarring, fine lines, large pores, stretchmarks.

Is it invasive?

Microdermabrasion: No, microdermabrasion is not an invasive treatment.

Microneedling: In some circumstances patients can experience some bleeding, however this is generally in the case of those with severe acne scarring or stretchmarks, where the depth of the needle is set higher, and even then bleeding is minimal. After treatment, if the patient has experienced slight bleeding, our practitioners will carry out thorough aftercare to ensure your skin is healed and you are feel comfortable.

Is there any down time?

Microdermabrasion: One of the great things about microdermabrasion is that there’s no down time!

Microneedling: You may look a bit red immediately after treatment or experience minimal bleeding, however this will be treated before you leave clinic and any redness has usually fully subsided a couple of hours after treatment.

Can everyone have treatment?

Microdermabrasion: We would not recommend this treatment for those who have active acne, as this can spread the condition across the face, however other than this there are no constraints on who can have microdermabrasion.

Microneedling: We do not advise this treatment for clients that are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Top 3 points to remember:

  • Microdermabrasion uses vacuum and crystal technology to deeply exfoliate and unclog the skin whereas microneedling uses micro-fine needles to encourage the production of collagen and increase firmness within the skin.
  • Microdermabrasion is best for treating clogged pores, tired/dull skin and blackheads whereas microneedling is great for treating acne scarring, stretchmarks and lines and wrinkles.
  • Microdermabrasion is not invasive however as microneedling involves needles rolling over the skin, there may be some bleeding during treatment.

Choosing the right treatment for you: Profhilo® VS Dermal Fillers

SKIN TREATMENT

Understand more about these popular treatments, and get to know which one is right for you.

If you’ve recently been considering facial enhancements to address areas of your appearance that you’d like to improve, you may have come across two popular treatments: Profhilo® and dermal fillers. Whilst both of these injectable treatments can greatly help to improve the appearance of the face, it is important to point out that depending on your desired results, one will be more suited to you than the other. As a brief overview before we go into more detail below, Profhilo® helps to deeply hydrate the skin and give an overall more plump, rejuvenated appearance, whereas dermal fillers are generally administered in particular areas (e.g. cheeks, jawline, chin, nose) to redefine and sculpt the facial structure. To help you better understand what might be right for you, we’ve broken out the main differences and uses for these two treatments; how they work, how long they last, the results they produce, and how much they cost.

What is Profhilo®?

Profhilo® is a revolutionary new treatment designed to provide hydration to the skin. It uses a unique concentration of Hyaluronic Acid, which penetrates deeply through the skin to accelerate the production of collagen and elastin, creating plumper skin. Profhilo® works across the entire face rather than focusing on one area, and is therefore fantastic for those looking to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and achieve an overall more youthful appearance.

Book your free consultation now

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers use a Hyaluronic Acid based substance to plump specific areas of the face, including the cheeks, jawline, lips and chin. This semi-permanent treatment helps to restore areas that have lost volume as age (e.g. under eye bags), address areas of imbalance such as weak chins, and reshape places such as the jawline and nose.

Book your free consultation now

Is Botox® the same as fillers and Profhilo®?

A common misunderstanding is that Botox® does the same thing as fillers and Profhilo®, however it is in fact a very different treatment. Whilst fillers and Profhilo® help to plump the skin and fill certain areas to restore volume loss, Botox® works by temporarily blocking the signals between the muscles and the neurotransmitters that send signals to our brain, so that the formation of lines and wrinkles are prevented. For this reason, Botox® is more commonly chosen by people who wish to prevent or slow down the ageing process. Botox® is most often administered to the forehead, to the side of the eyes (crow’s feet), and in the frown line. Botox® is also a fantastic treatment for helping anyone suffering with excessive sweat. This is known as Hyperhidrosis. Botox® can help in this circumstance by being administered to the armpits, feet and hands to prevent excessive sweating.

Is Profhilo® better than fillers?

Profhilo® is not better than fillers, and vice versa. Each of these treatment options provide different approaches, so there will be one treatment that works best for your skin and your desired outcomes. As outlined above, both treatments have different benefits and target different areas, therefore it is really dependent on your individual desires as to which treatment would be best for you. Generally, if you would like to achieve a more holisitc result that can be seen across your face, Profhilo® is the best treatment for you. However, if you would rather make small changes to certain areas of your face such as your cheeks, dermal fillers are more suitable for you.

How long does Profhilo® last?

The results from Profhilo® treatments will most often last for up to six months, but results can differ from person to person.

How long do dermal filler last?

Dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 – 18 months depending on the person.

How much do dermal fillers and Profhilo® cost?

See the cost per treatment for Profhilo® and dermal fillers below.

Juvéderm Dermal (cheek) Fillers: Dermal fillers offer a way to reverse signs of ageing or enhance your features, creating natural lasting results.
Prices From £245

Juvéderm Lip Fillers: An increasingly popular treatment, lip fillers allow you to subtly enhance your lips and create natural looking volume.
Prices From £235

Non-Surgical Nose Reshaping: A quick and simple procedure to correct bumps, soften and improve the profile of the nose.

Profhilo® Skin Hydration & Collagen Boosting Treatment: A highly effective and new treatment great for combating ageing, dull or tired looking skin.

There are many styles when it comes to shaping the bikini line and in regards to Laser Hair Removal, it can be difficult to know what to ask for.

Traditionally, there are three main styles to choose from:

  • Classic bikini line: Leaves a triangle of hair that is not visible when you wear underwear or a swimming costume
  • Brazilian: Does not remove all hair from the bikini area, usually just from the sides to create a thin strip of hair or ‘landing strip’. Can sometimes be used to refer to full pubic hair removal
  • Hollywood: Complete removal of pubic hair from the outer labia, pubic bone and the perineum

Classic vs Brazilian vs Hollywood laser hair removal

An exclusive article by YouGov revealed nearly 1 in 2 women under 35 choose to remove all their pubic hair. As many women sport a full Hollywood, Laser Hair Removal can be the perfect option for long-term results.

What are the benefits of Hollywood laser hair removal?

Hollywood Laser Hair Removal is a professional hair removal method with significant effectiveness in reducing unwanted pubic hair (90% reduction rate). There are many benefits when opting for a professional treatment route including:

  • Permanence: compared to a Hollywood/Brazilian wax, Laser Hair Removal can last months – even years for some clients – whilst waxing only lasts a few weeks
  • Appearance satisfaction: clients have reported feeling happier and confident after undergoing Hollywood Laser Hair Removal
  • Increased sensitivity and sensation during sex
  • Improved odour: pubic hair traps bacteria and produces odour – once removed, you can experience longer lasting freshness
  • No returning ingrown hairs, razor burns or stubble
  • Simplifies your beauty regime
  • Long-term convenience and value for money

How does it work?

Laser Hair Removal works to permanently alter the hair growing environment and prevent future regrowth. It combines high quality equipment, hair growth expertise and best practices to optimise hair-free living.

For both Hollywood Laser Hair Removal and Brazilian Laser Hair Removal, the recommended course length is six to eight, with interval sessions every four to six weeks. This short term commitment guarantees long-term convenience.

Before the laser hair removal sessions begin, you will have a free consultation with your practitioner. The consultation is an important moment in your treatment route as it is an opportunity to discuss expectations, concerns and procedure. During this initial meeting, your practitioner will assess your hair type using dermatological tested methods to create a bespoke service to suit your hair removal needs.

Once your initial patch test is complete you are then ready to start your Hollywood laser treatment. During a typical session, you can expect your practitioner to treat the target area with a small, hand-held laser device.

The device will emit a small concentrated light that is absorbed by the coarse, dark pigment found in pubic hair. The light energy is then converted to heat energy which damages the hair follicles and discourages future regrowth.

What results can I expect?

After each session, you can expect hair regrowth to be finer, lighter and less visible until your final session, where you can expect significant reduction in pubic hair growth.

After your hair removal treatment, it is normal to expect a level of redness, tenderness and swelling. We also recommend that for at least 24 hours, you avoid using any perfumed products, lotion and avoid exposing the treated area to sunlight.

For at least 48 hours after the treatment, it is highly advised not to participate in any strenuous exercises, go swimming or engage in gym facilities, like steam rooms or saunas.

SKIN TREATMENT

One of the most frequent questions our skin specialists are asked is how to improve congested and clogged skin. This article offers expert guidance on treatments for clogged and blocked pores and changes to your routines that can help with these issues.

What are clogged pores?

Clogged pores occur when dead skin cells, oil, bacteria and debris get trapped into your skin, rather than being released into the environment.

Pores are actually small openings on the surface of the skin connected to your hair follicles. Since their primary purpose is to release oil and sweat, pores play an essential role in keeping our bodies cool and flushing out toxic substances our bodies don’t need.

What is congested skin?

Congested skin is often classed as a consequence of having clogged pores. Skin congestion is characterised by a rough, bumpy texture and features multiple enlarged pores and comedones.

If your skin is congested, you may notice frequent breakouts, including blackheads and whiteheads, as well as general dull appearance.

What causes congested skin and clogged pores?

The main causes of skin congestion and clogged pores are:

  • Natural skin cell death and renewal
  • Overactive sebaceous glands
  • Grime build-up
  • Build-up and release of toxins in the body
  • Poor cleansing routine, including not removing make-up properly or using the wrong face wash
  • Using the wrong skin care products
  • Unhealthy diet.
  • Environmental factors such as humidity
  • General external aggressors such as pollution

When these dead skin cells mix with the skin’s oils and other dirt and toxins, everything gets trapped into the pores. This results in large pores, blackheads and a dull and uneven complexion. If untreated, it can lead to acne

How to treat congested skin

There are a number of simple treatments and fixes you can do to clear congested skin. To make sure you get the optimum results, we would also recommend consulting an expert clinician.

You can improve congested skin and issues with clogged pores by:

1. Seeing a professional

Identifying the causes of your particular skin issues with the help of a qualified professional is the safest, most efficient route to achieve clear skin. If congested skin is triggered by hormonal fluctuations, a trained practitioner can advise the best course of action alongside an appropriate treatment plan.

2. Eating a nutritious diet

Adapting your diet to improve nutritional levels and drinking plenty of water to hydrate your skin can render major skin improvements. Skin wellness is often achieved from the inside out, so paying attention to what you put inside your body can make a great difference.

3. Having regular facials

Have regular treatments such as chemical peels, enzyme peels or a HydraFacial to unclog pores and even out your skin tone.

HydraFacial in particular, is arguably the best facial for open pores and blackheads with added anti-ageing benefits. Featuring a 6-step patented technology, it works by detoxifying and removing dead skin, leaving you with a glowing complexion.

This deep cleansing process includes exfoliation, meaning that any pigmentation left behind by sun damage or acne scarring is efficiently addressed. Your skin will feel smooth and decongested after just once session.

4. Avoid touching your face

Frequently touching your face enables bacteria transfer from your hands onto your facial skin. Also, be sure to clean your face mask and cell phone on a regular basis to avoid further skin congestion.

5. Clean your makeup utensils, flannels and towels well and regularly

Beauty tools can easily be contaminated with bacteria and dirt. Never lend your utensils to someone else or equally borrow them from your friends or family. Always clean your tools after each use.

6. Have a diligent skincare routine

Establish a daily skincare regime that suits the individual needs of your skin. Make sure you choose AHA and BHA based products to gently exfoliate the skin and lift dead skin cells. Avoid harsh cleansers that will strip your skin of its natural moisture and opt for a reputable soap-free cleansing gel instead.

If you constantly struggle with blackheads, pore strips may also prove efficient in extracting all the debris that gets trapped into your skin.

7. Avoid untested products/treatments

Never be tempted by untested, dubious skincare products or clogged pores treatments. Sadly, there are many on the market that falsely promise solutions to congested and clogged skin that are at best a waste of money, and at worst a risk to your health. Use a clinically recognised product for congested skin.

We hope these tips have helped you identify some changes you can make to your regime and lifestyle to help improve congested and clogged skin.
