A recap to start: What is Profhilo® ?

is one of the newest ground-breaking treatments in aesthetics, it’s been specially formulated to help deeply hydrate your skin, reducing signs of ageing whilst creating a naturally youthful glow.

It’s definitely one of our current favourites here at DestinationSkin. Our Medical Director and aesthetics treatment expert, Dr Toni Phillips, is a big fan of Profhilo®, describing the treatment as “quite simply the best innovation I have seen in my 12 year career.”

She adds:

“If you are dreaming of having smoother, tighter, more glowing skin that looks younger and fresher, then Profhilo® is the treatment you need.”

We’ve seen awareness of Profhilo® growing a lot in recent months, so we wanted to take a moment to address two of the most common questions we’ve seen – where can Profhilo® be used? Is it permanent?

Where can Profhilo® be used?

Profhilo® is most commonly used for facial areas to plump the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It can work wonders in these areas, as you can see from these before and after shots:

But did you know that Profhilo® is also an effective treatment for areas other than your face? As Profhilo® hydrates skin, creating firmness and reducing fine lines, it can be used to reduce signs of ageing such as sagging and crepe-like skin on your neck, décolleté, arms, knees and hands.

Is Profhilo® permanent?

Profhilo® is not a permanent solution as it has been designed to work with your body’s natural processes. It is formulated from Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a substance that already exists in your body to maintain moisture in your skin by encouraging the production of collagen and elastin (learn more about these in our skincare glossary). As such, the injected Profhilo® slowly breaks down over time. You can expect the results of your Profhilo® treatment to last for up to six months, but this differs from person to person. Dr Toni recommends 2-3 treatments per year to keep the collagen levels high and your skin looking fantastic.
