This week, we’re talking about the Dracula Facelift with Dr Ifeoma Ejikeme, MD MBChB BSC Post doc ENT, PCGERT Aesthetic Medicine, Board Certified Internal Medicine
Can you tell us a little bit about the Dracula Facelift?
Dracula therapy involves the use of your own growth factors to stimulate new collagen formation in the skin. You may have also heard this treatment referred to as “PRP” or “platelet rich plasma” therapy.
So what exactly is involved in the treatment?
During the treatment, blood is taken through a small injection site. This blood is then prepared using a centrifuge to isolate the Platelet Rich Plasma. This serum in then injected into your skin to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkle, reduce stretch marks, increase hair growth and improve scars.
How quickly can results be noticed?
Results are not immediate. An improvement is skin tone and texture is usually be seen from 3 weeks with optimal results at 3 months. Most people will require between 1 and 3 treatments betwen 4-6 weeks apart to acheive the best results
Is there any down-time?
There is very little down-time from this treatment. Immediately after treatment some swelling and mild redness may be seen. Normal activities can be continued after 12-24hrs, however we suggest that you to refrain from alcohol, exercise and facial scrubs for 24hrs. We recommend you have a review with us after 6 weeks to monitor your progress.
What do you enjoy most about performing this treatment?
For me, the best thing about this treatment are the all round improvement to signs of premature aging. As we all age there are changes to the bones, the muscle, the fat and the skin and this causes the tell tale signs of an aging face. With PRP you can address and improve all these areas in the same treatment.
